The Desert Island Challenge

If you were trapped on an iceberg (desert islands are wishful thinking), and could only choose two foods to eat for your entire stay what would you choose?
A. Steaks and Green Beans
B. Eggs and Oranges
C. Eggs and Potatoes
D. Apples and Bananas
Answer: B. Eggs and Oranges!!!
Here’s why… (From our egg brochure)
“The hen’s egg is an almost perfect food. It not only tastes good; it contains almost every food element necessary for human nutrition, and they are all in perfect balance. A human being could survive on a diet of eggs, provided he or she also ate citrus fruit. The only essential nutrient lacking in eggs is vitamin C.
The logo of the American Egg Board is a hand holding an egg, with the words “The incredible edible egg.” The egg truly is incredible! It contains easily digested amino acids (protein), carbohydrates, fats, and important minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, iron, and magnesium. With the exception of ascorbic acid (vitamin C), the egg contains every other vitamin known to be needed by humans.”
When you think about it, the yolk of the egg is really just a big vitamin that the chick would eat right before he hatches. It gives him enough energy and nutrients to sustain him for 24 hours when he hops out and starts eating grain and little pebbles. The albumen (egg white) is really just a little calcium and water, still good for you but not near so fascinating as the yolk.

“The more I study nature, the more I stand amazed at the work of the Creator.” Louis Pasteur, Father of Modern Microbiology (1822 – 1895)
Enjoy your eggs this winter!!! Spring is coming and then we will all have eggs for breakfast, eggs for second breakfast, and eggs for dinner, mid afternoon tea, supper, evening tea…
